Ассоциация Cailian сообщила 20 февраля, что на рынке железной руды ожидается «серьезный» дефицит, при этом ожидается, что цены вырастут до 150 долларов за тонну, трейдерам необходимо подготовиться к 20-процентному скачку цен во втором квартале 2023 года. Ожидается, что сезонный рост производства стали в Китае в период с марта по апрель совпадет с краткосрочными ограничениями предложения, в результате чего во втором квартале на рынке будет дефицит в размере 35 млн тонн. Рост цен на сырье подтолкнет рыночные цены на сталь к дальнейшему росту.
